Titus Chapter 2

Titus Chapter 2

Q. What is the message of Christianity?

A. ________________________ .

Q. Why is teaching so important?

Q. What are some things you need to be taught about the Christian faith?

Q. Do you feel you are capable of teaching Christian truths to others? Why or why not?

Q. What groups are identified here?

A. Older men. Older women. Younger women. Younger men. Slaves and masters.

Q. What are some key phrases here that demonstrate that Christians should be examples for other Christians?

Answer:

1) The older men are said they should be “worthy of respect” (vs 2)

2) The younger women are said they be taught to live in certain ways so that “the word of God will not be maligned.” (vs. 4)

3) Paul writes that there should be an example set for the younger men (vs. 7) by showing traits such as integrity and seriousness.

4) Slaves are told to act in certain ways toward their masters so the “teaching about God our savior will be attractive.”

Q. Why do we do good works, as a church, as an individual Christian?

Read Titus 2:13b-2:14  – It says : Our savior Jesus who gave himself ….. eager to do what is good. We should do good because of what Jesus did for us (that is our theology)

Q. But do we always do good because of what Jesus did? Do we ever have other reasons?

Q. What about atheists that do so much good in the world? What about Moslems, Hindus and Buddhists who do good? Jesus dying for them surely isn’t their motivation. When we do good, let us tell others why. Don’t boast about your doing good. Just do it and if asked why, explain it.
